Orsolya Seregély was born in 1992 in Subotica, Serbia. She completed elementary school in Csantavér and high school in Subotica. She earned her BA in philology and her MA in the study of religion at the University of Szeged, Hungary. She has also studied at the Comenius University in Bratislava, Slovakia, and at the Jagiellonian University with a CEEPUS Scholarship in Krakow, Poland.
Orsolya began her career as a journalist at the online student magazine, Party Ponty, where she wrote about student life, culture, and entertainment. After gaining her MA degree, she started to work at the daily newspaper Magyar Szó, in Subotica, where she wrote about education and culture. She worked there for one year, 2017–2018.
In August 2018, Orsolya moved to France to become an EVS Volunteer at Radio Kollectiv. She worked and learned about podcasts and podcast editing under the program of Media and Culture in Normandy. There she also had a chance to edit the literary magazine Le Phare.
In 2019, Orsolya moved to Poland to work for a tech company where she also edited her own podcast, the Coffee Pause, in English. It was based on a round table format, talking with different people from diverse backgrounds about social problems.
In 2021, Orsolya started to work at the Budapest-based online economy magazine Pénzcentrum (Money Center). She wrote about entrepreneurship and education. In the meantime, she started to work at Szabad Magyar Szó to edit and create podcasts.
In 2023, Orsolya became a full-time member of the Press Freedom Foundation as a journalist. Currently, she writes articles and interviews for the Szabad Magyar Szó news site and the Családi Kör (Family Circle) weekly magazine. She also writes short stories for the Híd literary magazine and the Hungary-based Irodalmi Jelen (Literary Present).
